Record Lab produces in their Mobile One with mc²66.

Superb surround mixes for recorded shows and live performances.

Since the beginning of 2009, the Germany-based production company Record Lab have been using their new mobile studio – Mobile One, a studio vehicle rebuilt for modern surround sound productions. The audio vehicle's home base is the ‘Coloneum’ at the Cologne Media Centre; this site also houses offices and studios for voice recording and post-production. As an independent partner with WIGE Media, the companies share their competence and expertise. For example, for large joint productions in surround sound, they combine the technology of Mobile One with the capacity of the WIGE HD1 OB truck.

Originally built for BR, the Bavarian public broadcaster, the vehicle, having been withdrawn from service, was used by a production company. Following its purchase by Record Lab, it was rebuilt to create Mobile One, and installed with the best possible audio equipment, which made it achieve a level of quality that can be considered state-of-the-art. With a mc²66 console from Lawo, Mobile One can produce surround mixes up to 7.1, and also offers a fully redundant recording system as well as a selection of high standard outboard equipment.

With its fully digital Lawo mc²66 mixing console, Mobile One matches the highest standards of production with the quality of its audio facilities. Equipped with 56 Faders, 96 DSP channels and a routing capacity of 3,070 crosspoints, the facilities provide enough performance for the most ambitious and complex mixes.

Thanks to its balanced acoustics, Mobile One offers every possibility to perfect the spatial sound experience of Dolby Surround. The vehicle is used on-site for the production of shows, events, classical music or rock/pop concerts, as well as sports broadcasts in surround sound. Depending on requirements, complete live broadcasts may be produced from beginning to end. Joint use of Mobile One with the fixed-installation studio in Cologne guarantees a seamless production process from the first recording, through the audio processing and video editing, to final completion of the end product.
